1:1. To: Anyone
From: James
1:2-4. If you face hardships, that's a sign you're moving in the right direction. Struggle builds character.
1:5. If you lack wisdom, ask God.
1:6-8. But if you ask God for anything, be confident and do not doubt.
1:9-11. If you get money- celebrate, because it's a good thing. If you loose your wealth, celebrate, because it's a good thing. Everything withers away without God.
1:12. Bless someone who endures through a hard time. That's how you earn the crown of life from God.
1:13-15. God doesn't tempt you, you are tempted because you are drawn to your own desires. This will lead to death.
1:16-18. Don't be decieved. God is consistent and gives wonderful gifts. God rebirthed us with Truth, so that we could be the first to do what God wants.
1:19-21. Every should be eager to listen, and slow to speak and anger. That's not cool. Be a good person, and the light in you will save you.
1:22-24. Dont just hear the message of God, do what it says. If you hear this but don't do what it says, it's like walking into a room and forgetting why you went there in the first place.
1:25. But whoever seeks, and continues to seek, and remembers what they find, will be blessed.
1:26. If you think you're religious, but can't watch your mouth, you're worthless.
1:27. Our religion that God blesses is to look after orphans and widows, and prevent yourself from becoming corrupted by the world.
2:1-13. Don't show favoritism to rich people- they are only rich because they exploit you. God besses the poor people and wants you to do the same, it's the law. Don't break the law.
2:14-26. If you don't take care of the poor and needy, it shows you don't have any faith. Abraham was willing to give literally everything to God, so why can't you simply help the poor? A person impresses God not just because they believe, but because that belief leads to actual action.
3:1-2. Not many people have the ability to be teachers. Teachers are watched and judged more closesly. There's a lot of mistakes you can make, but if you learn to watch your mouth, you can learn to be perfect.
3:3-6. Just like a tiny steering wheel controls a whole car, your little tounge controls your whole body.
Just like a tiny spark can set a forest fire, so can a simple word spark evil.
3:7-8. Many types of animals can be tamed, but it's much harder to tame your language.
3:9-12. Do you really want to praise God with that mouth after speaking like that? Watch it.
3:13-18. True wisdom and good character is shown through action, not words. Bragging is not a good look. Be pure, peaceful, considerate, obedient, merifcul, and sincere.
4:1-3. What do you think actually causes fights and arguments? It's when you want something that doesn't belong to you, and are willing to do anything to get it, instead of asking God, or trusting God that you don't need it.
4:4-5. Desiring things like this is hateful towards God. Remember, God is a jealous God.
4:6-10. God will help you. Stop joking around and be serious, and God will lift you up.
4:11-12. Don't say bad things about each other. It's against the law, and there's only one judge. It's not on you to judge your neighbor.
4:13-17. Don't make big plans for the future. You don't have any idea what will happen in the meantime, and it comes off as bragging. Instead, trust in God and follow Gods will.
5:1-6. Fuck the rich. You're taking advantage of people and God is going to punish you.
5:7-8. Be paitient. In general, but also waiting on Jesus to come back.
5:9. Don't complain about others.
5:10-11. For a role model- look at all the past prophets who have suffered for God. You're not alone.
5:12. Do not make oaths- just say "yes" or "no".
5:13-14. If you're in trouble, pray.
If you're happy, sing.
If you're sick, go to the doctor.
5:19-20. If you know someone who has wandered from the truth, get them and bring them back. It will make up for a bunch of wrondoings.
5:15-18. Prayer can heal, and will help God forgive you.
5:16. Confess your wrongdoings to each other and pray to heal yourselves. Prayer is effective.
5:17-18. Remember when Elijah prayed it wouldn't rain, and it didn't for 3 and half years? And when he prayed it would, it did, and the plants grew.
